TREKKING SEASONS

There are two seasons for trekking in Nepal, the Spring time and the Autumn time. Spring falls from the beginning of March through to the end of May and the Autumn season is from mid September to the end of November. This later season is considered as the peak time for trekking in Nepal with favorable weather conditions and fantastic clear views. The early Spring seasons is defiantly the prettier time to come for wild flowers and greenery but good views are not always guaranteed.

Trekking is also possible in the winter season of December through to February but only recommended at lower altitudes and you should be prepared for extreme cold and snow. Out of these times, June through to the beginning of September is the monsoon, trekking is possible in some areas but not recommended at higher altitudes. During this time there is normally daily rain fall.

ANNAPURNA

Without a doubt, Annapurna has to be one of the most popular trekking destinations in the world, here, in this magnificent Himalayan region. It is a trek to suit the fitness level of anyone, and we can even arrange a pony trek for those not minded or unable to physically trek. The Annapurna region is in the Midwest of the Himalayan range and spreads its snow capped peaks along the lush valley which contains Pokhara and the emerald blue Few Tal which can be seen to reflect the mountains on a clear day.

Annapurna is a conservation area and with support from tourism and the government the Annapurna Conservation Project aspires to improve local living standards, protect the environment, and develop a more "sensitive" form of tourism. One of its most important functions has been to develop and teach courses on environmental education in local schools.

LANGTANG

Langtang is towards the north of Kathmandu and just south of the Tibetan border. It is sandwiched between the main Himalayan range to the north and a slightly lower range of snowy peaks to the south. To the west of Langtang is Ganesh Himal with peaks between 6,000 to 7,000 meters. The name Langtang originates from two different words ‘Lang’ and ‘Tang’. Lang means Yak and Tang means to follow. At one time this formed a trade route for the Yak herders into Tibet. In 1971 this region was recognized as Nepal’s first Himalayan National Park and is now a protected area. Most trekking within this area falls within the boundary of Langtang National Park covering an area of, 1,710 square kilometers. The chief attraction of this park is the Langtang range in the north and a number of lakes in the south. The main ethnic groups of this region are Sherpa’s and Tamangs whose religion, culture, languages and dress are similar to that of the Tibetan people. The Langtang area is a less trekked but superb area for trekking, the region is loaded with breathtaking scenery, views, lakes and traditional culture.
